Focus
Journal of Informatics is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to advancing high-quality research in informatics, computer science, information systems, computational intelligence, and emerging digital technologies.
The journal provides a scholarly platform for researchers, academics, professionals, and practitioners to communicate original research that advances computational knowledge, develops rigorous methods, introduces reproducible technological solutions, or provides substantive empirical evidence for contemporary computing problems.
Joofin prioritizes research that demonstrates a clearly formulated scientific problem, rigorous methodology, transparent experimental design, appropriate validation, meaningful comparison with relevant state-of-the-art approaches, and a well-supported contribution to the international body of knowledge. The journal particularly encourages studies that move beyond routine implementation of existing technologies. Manuscripts should demonstrate why the investigated problem is scientifically important, identify limitations in existing knowledge or methods, and establish how the proposed research contributes new theoretical, methodological, computational, empirical, or practical insight.
Aims
Journal of Informatics aims to:
- advance theoretical and applied knowledge in informatics and computer science;
- disseminate original computational methods, models, algorithms, architectures, frameworks, systems, and empirical findings;
- promote rigorous, reproducible, transparent, and ethically responsible computational research;
- encourage research addressing significant and internationally relevant computing problems;
- connect theoretical advances with experimentally validated applications;
- facilitate interdisciplinary research in which computing provides a substantive methodological or technological contribution;
- promote comparative and evidence-based evaluation against appropriate baselines and state-of-the-art methods;
- support open science through transparent reporting of methods, data, software, experimental configurations, and evaluation procedures whenever legally and ethically possible; and
- provide an international forum for scholarly communication among researchers, educators, professionals, industry practitioners, and technology innovators.

Research Contribution Expectations
Publication in Journal of Informatics requires more than the application of an established algorithm to a new dataset or geographical location. Original research manuscripts are expected to demonstrate one or more substantive contributions, such as:
- a novel algorithm, method, model, framework, architecture, or computational technique;
- a theoretically or empirically justified improvement to an existing method;
- new scientific insight obtained through rigorous computational experimentation;
- a comprehensive comparative evaluation revealing previously unknown findings;
- a new dataset, benchmark, software resource, or experimental framework with demonstrated research value;
- reproducible evidence that challenges, extends, or refines existing knowledge;
- a technically significant solution to an internationally relevant computing problem; or
- an interdisciplinary contribution in which computing constitutes a substantial scientific component.
Merely implementing standard methods, reproducing established workflows without additional scientific insight, or reporting localized system development without generalizable findings is normally insufficient.
Methodological and Experimental Rigor
Joofin expects conclusions to be supported by appropriate evidence. Depending on the nature of the research, manuscripts should provide sufficiently detailed descriptions of datasets, preprocessing procedures, experimental environments, parameter settings, algorithms, baselines, evaluation metrics, validation strategies, statistical analyses, hardware and software configurations, and other information necessary to understand and evaluate the research.
Reproducibility and Open Science
Journal of Informatics supports transparent and reproducible research. Authors are encouraged to make supporting research materials publicly available through recognized repositories. These materials may include: datasets; source code; trained models; algorithms and pseudocode; experimental configurations; parameter settings; supplementary results; questionnaires or research instruments; statistical analysis scripts; and documentation required to reproduce major findings.
