3. Plagiarism Screening Workflow
Every manuscript submitted to JOOFIN undergoes a multi-stage plagiarism check:
Pre-Review Screening (Initial Submission)
Upon submission, the Managing Editor runs a Turnitin scan. Manuscripts with a similarity index higher than 15% are returned to the authors for revision or rejected immediately.
Algorithmic & Code Integrity Check
For computer science articles featuring algorithms, pseudo-code, datasets, or software implementations, editors verify that all code snippets and computational models are original and properly cited.
Post-Revision Check
After authors submit their revised manuscript post-peer review, a final Turnitin check is conducted before formal acceptance.
4. Handling Plagiarism Misconduct
If plagiarism or self-plagiarism (duplicate publication) is detected at any stage of the editorial process:
- Before Publication: The manuscript will be immediately rejected, and an explanation will be requested from the corresponding author.
- After Publication: If plagiarism is proven post-publication, JOOFIN will issue a formal Retraction Notice in accordance with COPE guidelines, and notify the author's affiliated institution and indexing databases (e.g., Scopus, Crossref).
5. Author Guidelines for Avoiding Plagiarism
- Always paraphrase findings in your own words and provide complete bibliographic citations.
- Enclose direct quotes within quotation marks and cite the exact source page.
- If reusing your own previously published work (text, figures, tables, code), clearly cite the original work and obtain appropriate copyright permissions.
